YOU ARE NOT TOO FAR

“Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: (Jeremiah 3:14)

The song Reckless Love by Cory Asbury, is a song that has touched many lives including mine. Whenever this song plays on the radio and I begin to sing the lyrics, it put a lot of things into perspective. These thoughts sometimes roll around in my mind. How can a God love someone like me? What did I ever do to deserve such a love? After all I have put Him through, why would He want to take me back?

The truth is, we can never figure out or comprehend the love of God for us. Believe me I came up with every excuse in the book to run from Jesus and His love. It might sound crazy, but it’s true. And it’s insane to think that even in my backslidden state, He still wanted me. How many husbands or wives will take back, and forgive a spouse that cheated on them over and over again. Well, that is exactly what Jesus did when he took me back.

If you are reading this you were either in my position, or is in this position right now. Maybe you have never backslidden or even accepted Jesus as your personal Savior. It really does not matter where you fall on the dotted lines. One thing is true Jesus Loves you and you are not too far for Him to reach you. I thought God could never love me and I had gone too far for him to reach. These thoughts plague with all I have done and how much I betrayed him, made me feel unworthy of Him. I had to discover Jeremiah 3:14 and Romans 3:23 which states “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (KJV). This showed me that God loves us even in our sin and shame.

Jesus said He came to give us life and He wants us to prosper in Him. 2 Peter 3:9 says that God doesn’t want us to perish but He wants us to come to a place of repentance. The lies in your mind that Jesus don’t love you, is just that; a lie. He lay His life down on Calvary and He is reaching for your heart today. Will you give Him a yes?

There is nothing; absolutely nothing you can do to make Jesus love you less. From before you were in your mother’s womb, He formed you and knew you, Jeremiah 1:5. You are His and He is calling you back to Himself.
